Awana is an international, Bible-centered children's ministry and youth ministry providing weekly clubs, programs and training in local churches. The Awana goal is to raise spiritual champions who know, love and serve Christ. Awana is derived from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.

The Awana clubs at First Baptist Church include Bible time, handbook time, and game time each week. Children are instructed in Bible doctrine at an age-appropriate level, receive and work through a handbook that reinforces Bible learning with memory verses and activities, and spend time having fun with other children as they play games. Rewards for completing activities and meeting goals are integrated into the curriculum.

Awana Cubbies

Cubbies is an Awana club for preschool-age children (approximately 3-5).

Young children are constantly learning and developing a world view. Therefore, we believe that it is very important that children receive spiritual training early on. Preschool-age children are very capable of learning and beginning to apply Bible truths in their lives.

While the primary place for spiritual training is in the home, our Cubbies club can assist parents with their responsibility for raising up godly children.

Awana Sparks

Sparks is an Awana club for children in Kindergarten through Second Grade.

Building on the information learned in Cubbies, Awana Sparks encourages children to take the next spiritual step. The gospel is clearly presented, giving boys and girls regular opportunities to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Awana Truth & Training

The Truth & Training club is for children in third through sixth grade. The name reflects the club's goals for teaching the truths of God's Word and for training children to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our desire is to see many of the children in this club become spiritual leaders and dedicated servants of the Lord as they grow and mature.
